Our Mission

To make Chidigo a language children grow up speaking.

To make Chidigo a language children grow up speaking, by giving the Digo community the tools, content, and platforms it needs to transmit, evolve, and celebrate its language and culture.

Tools

The monolingual Digo dictionary, thesaurus, and proverbs collection. Free at the front door, always. Mobile-first and offline-capable, because coastal connectivity is uneven. Audio for every entry, because Chidigo is an oral language first. Structured data from day one, because the corpus belongs to the community.

Content

Cultural production — stories, music annotations, audio archive, fashion documentation. Children’s books and adult learner materials. Making the language feel living, not preserved. The goal is not a museum of Chidigo; it is a body of work that a child born today will want to read, watch, and sing.

Platforms

The online dictionary with search, daily-word features, and audio playback. Urban Digo — community contributions for modern vocabulary. The infrastructure that brings reference work to people where they already are: on their phones, in their browsers, in their classrooms.

Guiding principles

  1. The child in 2040 is the only outcome that matters.
  2. The dictionary is the front door, not the moat — always free.
  3. Descriptive until we earn the right to be prescriptive.
  4. Balance religious sourcing actively, project alignment to neither.
  5. Honest about AI — fine-tuned and retrieval-augmented, never from-scratch.
  6. The community owns the data — CC-BY-SA 4.0 from day one.
  7. Digo first, Mijikenda later — earn the expansion.

What we will not do
